Gifts that Honor Your Legacy

What is an endowed gift?

An endowed gift, or an endowment, is an invested fund that can be designated as either full or term endowments. Sharing the fruits of your life will leave a lasting legacy on future generations.

Endowments

Endowments are gifts that are a permanent pool of support for HCEF programs, because the funds are invested by professionals on behalf of HCEF to support our programs for many lifetimes to come. Cash, securities or other assets can be used to create your endowment, or you can join one we’ve already created.

What can I support with my endowment?

Through your endowment, you can fund a Scholarship, establish a Classroom Grant, and/or contribute to any of HCEF’s Programs. Your endowment can also be unrestricted so that its earnings will be used where they are most needed for Harford County Public Schools.

What legacy will my endowment leave?

Endowments reflect the values and passions of the giver. If you desire to create a legacy for education in Harford County Public Schools, consider creating an endowment. Your gift will change the lives of young people, both today and in the future. Endowments may be made as:

  • Memorials
Memorial Endowments provide remembrance of a loved one or friend and are a permanent way to recognize the person’s life. Your gift not only pays tribute to the deceased but also establishes a gift to the continued educational excellence of the Harford County Public Schools through the established programs of the Foundation.
  • Honorariums
Honorarium Endowments pay tribute to the living. What better way to honor and say “thank you” to a colleague, friend, community leader, or family member than by establishing an Honorarium Endowment to recognize that person’s contributions to the community or district. As with a memorial, this gift not only recognizes the honoree but also establishes a gift to the continued educational excellence of the Harford County Public Schools through the established programs of the Foundation.

**For both Memorial and Honorarium endowments, the family or honoree will receive a gift acknowledgement that recognizes the donor without divulging the amount of the gift. As a donor, the Foundation will send you a receipt for your records.
