Summer is a good time to boost reading.
A local nonprofit organization is changing its name and look, after 13 years of service to Harford County. As of Wednesday, July 19, at 5 PM, the organization “Greater Excellence in Education Foundation” has been renamed “Harford County Education Foundation.”
The “summer slide” is a term that suggests a fun-filled day at an amusement park, but actually describes the regression of aptitude and skills amongst students over the summer months.
Fourth Grade Classes at Havre de Grace Elementary School welcomed representatives from Greater Excellence in Education Foundation (GEEF) into their classrooms earlier this month. The visit showcased the continued success of a foundation-funded reading program piloted in the school last year.
On April 25th, 2017 Oak Contracting, LLC will host the 2nd Annual “Reach Fore the Stars” Golf
Outing to benefit Greater Excellence in Education Foundation (GEEF). The foundation was
created in 2004 to support the Harford County Public School System by equipping teachers and
students with the tools and resources they need to succeed, with an emphasis on those in the
most need of support.
On Saturday, September 10 from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm, the Greater Excellence in Education Foundation (GEEF) is hosting its 2nd annual Digital 5K Run and Walk. The proceeds from this event will benefit technology for students in need in Harford County Public Schools. Last year’s inaugural event engaged over 200 attendees and provided 17 tablets with keyboards to students in need.
Relive high school memories and make new ones at The PROM, a charity event to benefit the nonprofit Greater Excellence in Education Foundation. The event is open to those 21 and older and will be held April 2 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Every year, attendance at the event has grown, so to accommodate more guests, organizers moved this year’s event to the Bel Air Armory on Main Street.
